The White Art Gallery of Merano has the pleasure of inviting you on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 17:30 at the opening of the exhibition “Voyage, journey in our daily life”, solo exhibition of the artist Giovanna Sottini. “We are able to enter the world of Giovanna Sottini if they are willing to travel, to everything that is different, with the desire to discover the reality that surrounds us with its roots and its history”. The artist’s painting, in close relationship with photography, focuses mainly on the aspects and meanings of symbols, icons and words that have become constant presences in our everyday life

This is what emerges in many of his works as in the work “Coca Cola”, in which the Arabic letters that make up the name are written in a different character from the Western one but, being a global brand, they lead us back to a known product worldwide. In the work “Special K” as in “Durex” and “Coca Cola” the word is used as a value added to the image, amplifying the meaning of the represented subject. With the work “Thé yesterday”, the artist plays with the surface of the teapots giving rise to a “place” made up of concave-convex spaces and reflections of light that, just like in a kaleidoscope, lead to meditation. Finally, with the work “Candy” opens a new production cycle: unlike previous works that have as basis the physical journey and the experiences gained by the artist, this work leads the viewer to a path towards childhood.
